Burgers and ice cream in the same spot is a sure winner in my book.
That’s exactly what Lana’s in Oakland is doing and what a treat it was. Their menu is extremely straightforward with smash burgers, fried chicken sandos, sides, fun ice cream flavors, and cookies.
We ordered two smash burgers, tater tots, and fries to share.

The Deluxe, The Okie Onion Smash, Tater Tots, and Fries.
Both smash burgers were delicious with lacy thin patties. The deluxe came with yellow American cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, chipotle mayonnaise, and I added bacon. The okie onion smash had mustard grilled patties, yellow American cheese, pickles, and okie sauce. Both were served on potato rolls, one of my favorite types of burger buns because of their soft squishy texture and slightly sweet flavor. The tater tots and fries also came out piping hot and were equally satisfying.
Of course we had to finish the meal with something sweet.

Banana Oreo Ice Cream, Vietnamese Coffee Ice Cream, and Sea Salt Toffee Cookie.
Both ice creams had a wonderfully creamy texture but the banana oreo was definitely my favorite since they were generous with the oreo pieces. I also loved the sea salt toffee chocolate cookie which had the perfect balance of sweet and salty flavors.
Overall Lana’s feels like one of those casual neighborhood spots that’s easy to come back to when you’re craving comforting food. Between the crispy edged smash burgers, hot and salty sides, and dessert options, it’s the kind of place that hits every craving in one visit so my rating is an 8/10. I already know I’ll be back to work my way through more of their ice cream flavors!
