Review: Plow.

This iconic San Francisco brunch spot has been on my list for almost a decade and it’s about time that I tried it.

While Plow has been open since 2010, the popularity of the brunch restaurant is still hot as ever. They don’t take reservations so that’s the main reason why I’ve never been as going on a Saturday or Sunday sounds like a nightmare. I decided to go on a random Wednesday on a whim and while it was busy, we were able to get seated right away. Menus during the week are slightly different from the weekend but not enough to deter you from going either way.

Hong Kong Style Toast (7/10).

We started off with the HK style toast which is brioche bread smothered in coffee condensed milk. While the menu did say “lightly burnt” toast, this was a little too burnt for my liking (only the edges were super dark) and I didn’t taste any coffee flavor in the condensed milk. However, it’s buttery and sweet so it’s hard not to like it.

Porchetta Sandwich (7.5-8/10).

Their porchetta sandwich was super flavorful with onion jam, aioli, and arugula. The pork wasn’t necessarily reminiscent of porchetta for me but the flavor was there. Gotta love their roasted potatoes too.

“The Plow: (8/10).

Their signature dish is the plow which I knew I had to get. Two eggs any style with mini lemon Ricotta pancakes, potatoes, and a choice of house made pork sausage, chicken apple sausage, or bacon (we choose house made pork sausage but also got a side of chicken apple sausage and bacon because yolo). While it might seem like a standard brunch plate, everything was very tasty especially the mini pancakes. I preferred the chicken apple sausage and bacon over the house made pork sausages as it had a slight mealy texture.

No wonder Plow has been so successful since both the food and ambience are great for a brunch spot so my rating is a 7.5-8/10. It’s a place you have to try at least once and I don’t see their popularity slowing down anytime soon.
