Review: Bageletto.

I’ll never pass up on a bagel shop!

Bageletto in San Francisco opened earlier this year and it’s been on my radar for their extensive menu of both classic and unconventional bagel sandwiches. The shop is small with very limited seating but since we went on a weekday it wasn’t an issue.

Inside Bageletto.

While I wanted to try some of their more unique options like their pizza bagels or muffaletta bagel sandwich, since it was my first visit, we stuck with some classic choices. I also grabbed a half dozen of bagels to go (they froze really well and were super easy to reheat).

Lox & Loaded (8/10).

We started with an open faced everything bagel with scallion schmear, lox, tomato, pickled onions, capers, and lemon zest. It’s everything you want on a classic bagel: creamy cheese, smoked fish, juicy tomato, and that hit of acidity and punch from the onions, capers, and lemon zest.

Classic Egg & Cheese with Bacon (8/10).

Look at that cheese pull! I love a classic breakfast sandwich and this one was on their Calabrian chili bagel with eggs, Provolone, and added bacon. It was really delicious though I do wish it had just a pinch more salt.

What stood out about these bagels (plus the half dozen that I took home) was that they’re slightly pillowy and soft with some chew, different from the very chewy style at the popular Oakland spot, Poppy’s Bagels. Both are great in their own ways, just different. I’m intrigued to come back for their pizza bagels since that’s a nostalgic snack from my childhood. Bageletto is a solid bagel shop so my rating is an 8/10.
