Review: Angie’s Pizza.

This cozy spot screams casual date night especially if you live in the area.

Located in the Mission District, Angie’s Pizza’s dimly lit restaurant has a concise menu of a few appetizers and of course various pizzas. The owner previously worked at notable pizza establishments such as PizzaHacker and Pizzetta 21. Note that my pictures aren’t the best quality as the restaurant was quite dark.

Mixed Chicories Salad (7-7.5/10).

We started off with the mixed chicories salad with Ricotta Salata, toasted hazelnuts, fennel, and a citrus vinaigrette. The saltiness from the cheese paired nicely with the citrus vinaigrette.

Wood Fired Meatballs with Vodka Sauce (8-8.5/10).

We both were pleasantly surprised by their meatballs as they were very tender. The vodka sauce was stellar with so much flavor and we loved the shavings of fresh Parmigiano Reggiano cheese on top which was almost cloud like.

Date Pizza with Bacon, Goat Cheese, Radicchio, and Chili (8/10).

I loved the flavor combination of this pizza with the sweetness from the dates, fattiness and richness from the bacon, and tanginess from the goat cheese.

Pepperoni Pizza with Chili Honey (8/10).

Note that this isn’t my picture as I completely forgot to take a picture of the pepperoni pizza with chili honey. It’s a classic for a reason and it always hits the spot.

Both pizzas in terms of flavor were delicious but neither of us were crazy about the dough/crust. It almost had more of a flatbread vibe rather than pizza.

Homemade Ice Cream Sundaes (8/10).

We ended with their homemade ice cream sundaes which didn’t disappoint. One was Valrhona chocolate ice cream with hazelnut oat crumble, caramel, and whipped cream and the other was blood orange ice cream with olive oil cake crumble, roasted pistachios, and whipped cream.

While I don’t think I would go out of my way to eat at Angie’s Pizza, it’s a cute spot within the neighborhood so my rating is a 7.5-8/10.
