Who doesn’t like some good Chinese food? I rarely get to eat Chinese food back in Florence so when I heard about an affordable but good Chinese restaurant I had to try it! Hong Kong Lounge II located in Laurel Heights in San Francisco serves delicious Chinese dishes but also traditional dim sum.
There are actually two locations of Hong Kong Lounge, one located in the Richmond District and the one we went to in Laurel Heights. At Hong Kong Lounge II, you can find all your typical favorite Chinese dishes such as Peking duck, Mongolian beef, chow mein, various dumplings, and much more.
Hong Kong Lounge II definitely lived up to my expectations. My favorite dishes of the night were the bbq pork belly, Peking duck, and Hunan eggplant. The bbq pork belly might be one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, no joke. Sometimes pork belly can be all fat with barely any meat. However, this pork belly was amazing with glazed tender meat served with a honey mustard sauce. Now, you can’t go to a Chinese restaurant without ordering duck, I mean c’mon. You can’t go wrong with the Peking duck served with fluffy buns, sweet hoisin sauce, and aromatic scallions. Lastly, the Hunan eggplant was a great vegetable side dish. I absolutely love eggplant especially when it’s sautéed with aromatics, chilis, and soy sauce. Delicious.
I would rate Hong Kong Lounge II at a 7.5/10 for tasty Chinese food at a reasonable price.
