This daytime cafe focuses on vegetable forward roti canai.
Aman Cafe is a Malaysian/Thai spot in Oakland where their various types of roti, buttery flaky flatbread, are the main attraction. The concise menu has several savory and sweet roti options along with a few salads, and noodle and rice dishes.

Roti “Comfort” (8.5/10).
The roti “comfort” is their signature dish with wok fried vegetables and tofu in a rich sauce served with warm roti and a coconut sauce. All the various roti plates are pretty similar with vegetables and a source of protein. The sweet versions have either fruit, condensed milk, or coconut ice cream.

Basil Mango Chicken with Rice (7.5/10).
Our least favorite dish was the basil mango chicken because it was slightly too spicy for us but the overall flavor was quite food. I also wanted more mango as it was chicken and sauce heavy.

Pad Thai with Tofu (8/10).
A solid traditional pad thai with bouncy rice noodles, fried tofu, egg, and peanuts. A great balance of sweet and tangy.
For a casual lunch, Aman Cafe has tasty food and is worth checking out if you’re craving roti so my rating is an 8/10.
