Review: Delirama.

I’ve been stalking Delirama for months waiting for their brick and mortar to finally open.

I first heard about their famous pastrami back when they were doing pop-ups under the name Pyro’s Pastrami but never got the chance to try their stuff as they always sold out. Check out their video below featured on Munchies from their pop-up days.

They finally opened in Berkeley a few weeks ago and of course I had to go check it out. They have a breakfast menu served in the morning and then around 11 AM, sandwiches will become available. We got there around 11:30 AM and the line was pretty short (by the time we left, the line definitely picked up but nothing outrageous).

Menu.

Since they’re a new business, their full menu isn’t available yet but every week I see them adding more items to their menu as they get acclimated. On this day, their daily special was homemade NY style pizza slices (cheese or pastrami).

Sandwich Menu.

They make everything in house including the bagels, bialys, rye bread, and potato chips. They even make vegan pastrami out of celery root!

Left: The OG on Everything Bagel. Right: Pyro’s Reuben on Rye Bread.

Oh man…these were heavenly. The OG came with pastrami, Gruyère cheese, coleslaw, 1000 island dressing, and mustard. Pyro’s reuben had pastrami, Gruyère cheese, sauerkraut, and 1000 island dressing. You can choose what type of bread you want your sandwiches on (bagel, bialy, or rye). Hard to say which I preferred more but I’m sucker for reuben sandwiches and theirs didn’t disappoint. Also shout out to their homemade potato chips. These were seasoned with something crazy delicious, maybe reminiscent of pickling spice? Whatever it was, it was bomb. Service was also super friendly so bonus points there too. Honestly I loved everything so my rating is a 9/10.
