Alba.

The quaint town of Alba is located in northern Italy in the Piedmont region. Every November the city becomes alive with tourists all coming for one reason and one reason only…truffles. Some of the best white truffles in the world are found growing here! Tommaso and I decided to head up north from Florence to check out the truffle festival for ourselves.

We were also excited to visit the region of Piedmont! Neither of us have ever been there and we were eager to try their food specialties. For dinner we tried Ristorante La Piola (7.5/10) located right in the main square, Piazza Duomo.

Vital Tonnato, Beef Tartare, and Russian Salad.

The next day we enjoyed lunch at Ristorante La Volta Rossa (8/10), a cute place outside of the city center.

Mmmm the food in Piedmont is delicious. I had beef tartare three times in two days because it’s one of my favorite foods and it was served everywhere we went! Piedmontese specialities such as tajarin pasta and agnolotti were also divine. I really can’t wait to go back to this truffle festival again and maybe next time I’ll even dine at Piazza Duomo, the three Michelin star restaurant in Alba!
