San Francisco is a city filled with some serious foodies. As soon as a new hip restaurant opens up, it’s almost impossible to snatch a reservation there. Well, I just happened to score a dinner reservation at The Progress, the sister restaurant of State Bird Provisions which is literally located right next door (you can read my review here). Review: KEIKO à Nob Hill.
I’m always on the hunt for great restaurants especially whenever I’m back in the Bay Area. Over this past summer, I kept reading reviews about KEIKO à Nob Hill, a one Michelin star restaurant located in the Nob Hill area of San Francisco. What interested me the most about KEIKO à Nob Hill was that the restaurant served modern Japanese cuisine with French influences. Continue reading
Review: Mourad.
I was very excited and intrigued to try the hot new restaurant called Mourad that just opened up six weeks ago located inside the PacBell Building on New Montgomery Street in San Francisco. The chef, Mourad Lahlou from Marrakesh, actually has another restaurant in the city called Aziza, a one Michelin star Moroccan inspired restaurant (you can read my review here under my San Francisco post, be sure to scroll down towards the end of the post). Continue reading
Review: Hong Kong Lounge II.
Who doesn’t like some good Chinese food? I rarely get to eat Chinese food back in Florence so when I heard about an affordable but good Chinese restaurant I had to try it! Hong Kong Lounge II located in Laurel Heights in San Francisco serves delicious Chinese dishes but also traditional dim sum. Continue reading
Sando’s in Oaktown.
Now I eat my fair share of paninis back in Italy, topped with delicious cured meats, cheeses, and marinated vegetables. However, being back in the States gives a whole new meaning when it comes to sandwiches. Continue reading
Review: Bouchon.
Anyone and everyone knows of the famous American chef Thomas Keller, a culinary god. He’s the only American chef to own two three Michelin starred restaurants, The French Laundry in Yountville and Per Se in New York City. Now I would have died to go eat at The French Laundry again (too bad I was five years old when I ate there) but the restaurant is currently closed for renovation! So I decided to have a relaxing lunch in Yountville at chef Keller’s one Michelin star restaurant, Bouchon, a classic French inspired bistro. Continue reading
Review: SPQR.
Since being back in California, I’ve actually been craving Italian food! After all, I have been living in Florence for almost four years and I’m used to eating pasta three to four times a week or even more! Now SPQR, a one Michelin star restaurant in San Francisco, isn’t exactly the type of Italian food I might be eating back in Italy. Continue reading
Review: Dosa.
I had first visited Dosa, a South Indian restaurant in San Francisco, over this past summer. The restaurant has two locations within the city; one on Valencia Street in the Mission District and one on Fillmore Street near Japantown. Now South Indian cuisine is actually very different compared to North Indian cuisine which is typically served at most Indian restaurants. Continue reading
Review: Iyasare.
IYASARE, a Japanese restaurant located on Fourth Street in Berkeley, serves modern and delicious takes on classic Japanese cuisine. The restaurant serves mostly izakaya style dining, meaning small plates. Therefore, they suggested we order around two to three plates per person to share family style. Continue reading
Review: Monsieur Benjamin.
If you’re a true foodie in the Bay Area then you’ve probably heard of chef Corey Lee, former chef de cuisine for seven years at Thomas Keller’s three Michelin star restaurant The French Laundry in Yountville. Now chef Corey Lee has his own three Michelin star restaurant, Benu, in San Francisco. His newest restaurant in the city, Monsieur Benjamin located in Hayes Valley, is a casual hip French inspired bistro offering modern takes of classic Parisian food. Continue reading
