Review: Breakwater Barbecue.

While the Bay Area has a plethora of amazing  food from all over the world, the barbecue scene is lacking with just a few standouts.

Breakwater Barbecue in El Granada has been on my radar for a few years now. Located right along the coastline, this is a perfect spot for a lunch getaway.

We got there right when they opened and it quickly filled up as the inside is pretty small but they do have an outdoor seating area as well. The menu is straight forward with their various meats and side dishes and even some sandwiches.

We got two trays where each came with 1/2 lb of smoked meat, 2 sides, sliced bread, and pickles and onions.

For the meat we got the brisket and spare ribs and added a smoked link. The brisket was pretty solid where the meat was tender and juicy with a little fat. The ribs were also good but I would have preferred them even more tender but I know in real barbecue rules, the ribs shouldn’t be falling off the bone and still should have somewhat of a bite to it. The smoked link had that nice snap on the outside. For the sides we got mac and cheese (definitely get this), potato salad, coleslaw, and cornbread. Honestly everything was delicious considering that barbecue is an art form that we don’t see a lot around here so my rating is an 8/10.
