Review: Burma Superstar.

One of my favorite casual places for solid Burmese food is Burma Superstar in Oakland (there’s one in San Francisco and Alameda as well).

I’ve been here many times and the food is always consistently tasty and satisfying. If you’ve never had Burmese cuisine, it’s a combination of different Asian flavors.

Tea Leaf Salad (8/10).

A must get when dining at Burma Superstar is their signature tea leaf salad; crunchy romaine lettuce, fried yellow beans, fried garlic (yum), sesame seeds, fresh tomatoes, jalapeños, and dried shrimp all dressed in an earthy tea leaf dressing. Refreshing and delicious.

Garlic Noodles (7/10).

The garlic noodles are simple yet yummy with fried pieces of garlic, fresh red onion slices, raw cucumber, and scallions on top.

Fiery Chicken with Vegetables and Tofu (7.5-8/10).

The fiery chicken is tossed in a sweet yet slightly spicy sauce with string beans, red bell peppers, fresh aromatic basil, and tofu.

Eggplant with Garlic Sauce (8/10).

Another favorite of mine is the sautéed tender eggplant with garlic, chili sauce, and scallions. Umami at its finest!

Burma Superstar is a great restaurant for simple scrumptious food at an affordable price so I’d rate them at a 7.5-8/10.
