Dublin.

After three years of living in Italy, I was finally visiting a country that speaks english. Living in a country that doesn’t speak your native tongue can get quite exhausting at times. So I was ecstatic when I planned a trip to Dublin, capital of Ireland and home of Guinness beer! I spent three days sightseeing around the city and I have to say that I had some incredible meals here.

We arrived in Dublin around dinner time and headed straight to our Airbnb apartment. I’m a huge fan of using Airbnb, I can’t remember the last time I’ve stayed in a hotel! Once we dropped off our luggage we went straight to our first dinner in the city. I had heard Ireland had pretty good quality steaks but didn’t know much about it. We arrived at F.X. Buckley Steakhouse with hungry bellies after our flight and were ready to see if these steaks were in fact better.

Wow, these steaks were unbelievable! Tender meat cooked to medium rare perfection with loads of flavor! This is what a steakhouse should be all about, focusing on good quality meat. Even the sides dishes were scrumptious. My overall rating is a 7.5-8/10. Therefore, I would highly recommend going to F.X. Buckley for a real deal steakhouse experience.

The next day we headed out to explore the city. The local buses are the best way to get around since they take you everywhere in the city!

Our second night we dined at Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud, Ireland’s only two Michelin star restaurant. The cuisine is contemporary Irish with classic French roots.

Restaurant Patrick Guilbaud has been one of the best classically prepared food I’ve had in a while. Technically speaking, it was flawless. Some of the dishes might have been classic pairings of flavors but were executed to perfection. Highlights of the dinner were the King crab and cucumber maki, the John Dory fish, and the rabbit. The King crab and cucumber maki was so flavorful with tender sweet crab meat wrapped in refreshing crunchy cucumber. The John Dory fish with tomato dashi butter was out of this world. Succulent white fish paired with a crazy delicious sauce, to die for. Lastly, the rabbit stuffed with vegetables was cooked perfectly and had a superb demi-glace. Tommaso and I really had an incredible meal here so my overall rating is a 9/10.

Our final night we had dinner at The Pig’s Ear, a hip restaurant that serves awesome food in a casual environment at a super affordable price.

The Pig’s Ear was the perfect place to end our food adventure in Dublin. I’d score it at a  7.5-8/10. Everything about this restaurant is what great food should be about, sharing it with the people you love the most. I couldn’t think of a better way to end our trip!

florence was amzing but i prefer the water and canals of venice anyday obviously just my opinion..although it was a bit crowded and from what we heard that its not just tourist season the city is quite small compared to the population so i think that has more to do with it being so crowded than anything..
